Thank you for visiting my website. I intend it to be a very brief introduction to me and my law practice, and welcome you to call for additional information. I enjoy personal contact and prefer a call or appointment to communication with you on the web. The initial consultation is always without charge. I am easily reached at 619-238-1111, and the phone is answered 24/7. It includes instructions on how to page me if you have an after-hours emergency. The address is 444 West C Street, Suite 200, San Diego, California 92101, where I've been located since 1991.  That is the corner of West C and Columbia Streets in downtown San Diego, right next to the courthouse, in a small, four story red-brick building.  It is easy to find and parking is available next door.  I am fluent in Spanish, and often represent Spanish speaking clients.  I welcome your call in Spanish.

I have been an attorney since 1972.  Until 1986 I concentrated exclusively on criminal defense cases and I continue to handle many of them. Then I began accepting medical malpractice, personal injury, business litigation, and other cases. I enjoy the challenge of complex cases and those which need to be resolved through the jury trial process.  I believe I excel in the courtroom setting, where I have frequently achieved very positive results for my clients.

I am a member of the National Lawyers Guild, California Attorneys for Criminal Justice, California State and San Diego County Bar Associations, the Association of Business Trial Lawyers, and several other similar legal organizations. I now hold or have held office in several organizations, both legal and non-legal, and received many awards over the years for my trial work and public service.  For example, I was named Trial Lawyer of the Year for 2000-2001 by the Criminal Defense Bar Association and Airport Advocate of the Year for 2007 by the California Pilots Association because of a great result in a complex civil aviation case I handled. 

I am admitted to practice before all of the state and federal courts in California, the Federal 9th Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States Supreme Court.

I am fortunate to work with a wonderful support staff. My assistant, Mary Elena Joslyn, has worked with me since 1983, and will probably be the first person you speak with when you call. She is also fluent in Spanish. I work with a wonderful paralegal/investigator, and an information technology specialist who manages the extensive evidence and documentation I often analyze. 

In 2001, I began sharing office space with Todd A. Moore, Esq. Todd is a fine attorney who was admitted to practice that year. At times he assists me and my clients. He has his totally independent law practice. His phone number is 619-233-6222.  There are other lawyers in the suite of offices Todd and I purchased in 2007, and each has a separate, independent, law practice.

Perhaps the best way to describe my law practice and legal work is to say I accept very few cases, and they are usually quite complex and challenging. I focus on and pay a great deal of attention to detail. I've found that to be a great way to obtain good results for my clients.
